A formal edition, and a casual one

The Book Grows, and There Will Be Two Editions

I've added more pages to the guide and the promo material. The basic food storage section looks good for now. Next, I'm going to start drafting out the section that covers some basic backyard gardening and homesteading. I've changed out the font, and I'm also stressing that the main edition of the book will feature illustrations that focus on explanations only. Another edition will feature Cassandra. So if you don't like that aspect, you won't have to deal with it. (More on that later.)

Take a look:

I've put a few all-nighters into this in order to nail down the look and feel. I've also been making, downloading, and modifying tons of 3D assets for future sections. I'm confident that we'll keep up this level of illustration.

Apparently, some people don't like Cassandra. On the one hand, I get it. On the other, the kind of reactionary feminism where we dismiss a feminine woman because she doesn't look tough enough or old enough is dead. When I got the idea to add an edition with a character and feature her in the sample/promotional pages, K-Pop Demon Hunters was very much on my mind. Anime has been defying gender stereotypes for decades now, and there's nothing wrong with stylized feminine characters kicking ass. If anything, it does look a little strange to go with a character like this for a book on prepping, and that's another thing that makes it different from other guides. At least one edition doesn't have to take itself too seriously. And I'm not just doing this to sell it.

I like her.

Of course, we'll find her some cargo pants.

Like I said, I understand this won't go over well with some people, and the main point of the book is to be clear and thorough. So I'm going to focus on the core content. We'll have two editions of the book, and the main one will be straightforward with no distractions, just lots of helpful illustrations. That's what I spend the most time on.

Please keep the feedback coming. I've been reading submissions through the contact form, and I'm going to spend some time responding this weekend.

Every week, I hear stories from friends or friends of friends that indicate a lot of people want to prep for themselves, their families, their communities, but they have no idea where to start. So, we're onto something here.

Now, it's time to start designing a kickass backyard garden.
