Another Little Update
A quick guide on canning
As the headlines bounce back and forth, there's something deeply soothing about YouTube videos on canning. There's something different about them. There's not much editing. There's not much flash. Many of them will make you sit there and watch them fill up eight whole jars and then tighten the lids on each one.
It's almost a form of ASMR.
I've got to admit, when you're learning how to do something, slow and steady makes sense, without any cuts or fast-forwarding. Your brain soaks up the knowledge. You remember it because it happened a little slower.
I've got a basic guide on canning ready. I'll probably add a page or two with brief instructions for several foods, but the core is done. Sharing the chunks like this when they're ready helps keep me going.
I'm gearing up for the next topic, aiming to have a solid print version ready by April. From there, I'll keep working on the guide and put out an expanded print version once a year. There are just some things, like documenting how to build an earth-driven home or wire up an RV with solar, that are going to take a little more time to explain well.
I'm trying to balance quality and comprehensiveness with the fact that things are unraveling pretty fast. There's no point in rushing out a guide that won't help people, but I also don't want to let perfection become the enemy of survival. We're not all going to be living like Furiosa next year, but disasters are happening all the time now.
Anyway...
If you have canning knowledge, please tell me if I've accidentally offered fatal advice. As stated, this aims to be a good comprehensive starter guide.
