We Predicted Martial Law, and Now We're Getting Something Worse

Do we vote our way out of this?

“Three and a half years from now, if we happen to be in a war with somebody, no more elections? That’s good.”

—Donald Trump, Aug 18, 2025

Earlier this year, some of us gazed into our crystal balls and saw martial law in our future. As usual, the “optimists” emerged to call us names and accuse us of panicking. Weeks later, Trump deployed the guard against an American city. A federal judge came right out and said it: the president broke the law. No, you can’t use the military as your own personal law enforcement agency.

Of course, that’s not stopping him.

Just now, the Department of Homeland Security has launched “Operation Midway Blitz” in Chicago. You can read it in their own words. Just like they did in D.C., they’re using a single incident as a thin justification, blaming the state’s governor and “his sanctuary policies” for the death of a young woman. According to several sources, the military has been planning a takeover for weeks.

As we predicted, D.C. was just the trial run.

Not only were we right, but it’s worse than we predicted. Instead of declaring martial law, Trump bypassed that entire process. He didn’t invoke the Insurrection Act. He didn’t even go to Congress. He simply told his Secretary of Defense to send in troops to put down a protest, and he did.

The National Guard wound up engaging in “missions that were plainly law enforcement actions… in places with no true risk of riots, some 50 and 140 miles from downtown Los Angeles.” In other words, the administration used the protests as a pretext for field testing their own version of martial law, sending troops wherever they wanted whenever they wanted.

Where does this end?

Let’s discuss.

This administration is very clearly using crime and immigration as an excuse to make a version of martial law the norm on American soil. Weeks ago, we read about the “reaction force” planned to put down civil protests. It’s no longer theoretical. According to Rolling Stone, the administration has formed a group of 600 soldiers “tucked into an executive order purporting to tackle common crime” and it “suggests Trump is expanding the idea.”

That reaction force has been at work in D.C., and it’s currently heading to Chicago. We’re talking anywhere from hundreds to thousands of armed soldiers in American streets, and their entire job is to stomp down dissent.

That’s the entire point of all these takeovers.

It’s to acclimate Americans to martial law.

Protests are happening, but our media isn’t covering them. They’re sanitizing all of this and making it look like just another day in Trumpville.

We keep making comparisons to Hitler, but he’s far from the only example. Dictators around the world, from Russia to Chile, have used their own personal police, military, and intelligence groups to enforce their will.

L.A., D.C., Chicago. It’s like clockwork.

Many of us understood the threat months ago, perhaps years ago. This isn’t just an escalation. It’s a fulfillment. What he’s doing now was always the plan, and the plan was always to crush blue cities.

Where does this end?

Simple, it doesn’t.

The Brennan Center for Justice has outlined the point of all these maneuvers. Trump has no intention of holding fair elections in 2026 or 2028. As the authors of the report state, “To be sure, previous elections were marred by rules and practices that hindered full participation.” They cite gerrymandering and voter restrictions. That’s nothing compared to what this administration has planned. They’ve already started enacting executive orders to take control of election rules and systems. In short, they intend to seize voting machines outright and institute document requirements so strict they exclude 21 million Americans from the polls.

This might sound like a conspiracy theory, except it’s not. The Governor of Illinois said it out loud on national television when talking about the federal takeovers of American cities. In the governor’s words, “he’d like to stop the elections in 2026 or, frankly, take control of those elections.”

Even Gavin Newsom is expressing skepticism that we’ll have fair elections in 2028, or whether we’ll have them at all. At the very least, Trump will run for a third term if the Epstein files don’t derail him, and he’s still alive.

It’s happening. Trump is implementing the plans to seize control of elections in 2026. He’s doing it through gerrymandering, but also through direct military intervention in blue cities if it comes to that. Imagine Trump deploying his reaction force to the polls next year, backed by thousands of ICE agents.

What a nightmare.

None of this comes as a surprise, and yet we still find ourselves watching with a little bit of awe as our predictions come into being.

Trump continues to make casual remarks about elections, as he did recently when talking to Zelensky in late August. On the surface, he was criticizing Ukraine for its own suspension of elections. Of course, we’ve seen this movie many times before, and we’ve seen all the spinoffs. This is what Trump does. This is how he prepares the rationale for his own crimes, through quips and offhand remarks. Have we learned by now? Trump is never just running his mouth.

That’s just how he makes it sound.

Every day, political influencers act like we can still vote our way out of this mess. If you dare question that, millions are quick to label you a hopeless pessimist. I’ll never tell anyone not to vote. I’ll vote as long as I can, but let’s stop kidding ourselves about whether that’s going to be enough.

So, what’s our move?

Well, there’s dozens of things we can do to improve each other’s lives that don’t involve the relentless political theater we’re subjected to every day. I’m writing about them all the time, and we’re among the few actually doing them. For example, we figured we wouldn’t be getting Covid shots this fall. Even though I predicted that Big Pharma would put a stop to RFK Jr.’s anti-vaccine madness, my family still prepared for the worst-case scenario. So, we have HOCl. We have masks. We have a medicine cabinet full of alternative treatments, and we know they work—because I spent countless hours reading peer-reviewed studies about them.

That’s what you get for being a so-called pessimistic doomer. You wind up being prepared when the worst-case scenario happens.

I’m glad we didn’t wallow in hopium…

Aren’t you?

This administration has proven to us that they see our laws, our constitution, and our rights as words on pieces of paper that can be discarded. We’re long past the point of what’s legal or what some judge says someone can do. Trump has an army of loyalists and lawyers. Oh, and he has an actual army.

Nobody is coming to save us. Not politicians. Not lawyers. Not the military. Not your noble virtue signalling Facebook friends.

Certainly not some godlike artificial intelligence.

Sure, maybe Trump will die soon. Maybe his death will take the wind out of the fascist sails for a spell. Again, let’s stop kidding ourselves. It’s not Trump. It’s all the billionaires and the big tech titans behind him. It’s giants like BlackRock. So many people out there don’t get it. Ten years of Trump have fundamentally altered American culture and politics.

By the time we “recover” from this fascist government, if we do, we’ll be in the 2030s and collapse will be in full swing. What’s to stop the next Democrat from pulling a Coin and going full Snow on us? There’s a reason why Suzanne Collins ended The Hunger Games the way she did. It just kills me that we have all these warning signs, and yet nobody ever listens.

I’m not advocating we give up. I’m simply advocating that we stop acting like we have to live in a pretend democracy before we can do the right thing. We can do ten right things a day regardless of what kind of government we live in. We can save lives. We can help each other.

Anyway, we predicted martial law. It’s happening.

Once again, we were right.
